Quantum machine learning for radar sensing and power distribution decisions Ongoing

Quantum machine learning · Optimisation · Saad Malik

This work covers two ongoing projects that apply quantum machine learning (QML) to real problems. The first project uses QML for radar sensing. The second project targets decision-making in power distribution systems, with pandapower for network simulation. Both projects take a hybrid quantum-classical approach, using PennyLane and Qiskit. The aim is to improve optimization and reach better decisions.

Quantum random number generator

Quantum randomness · Cryptography

This project focuses on generating truly random numbers using the natural unpredictability of quantum processes. The generated bitstreams are analyzed with standard statistical test suites to evaluate their quality, consistency, and reliability. By building a dependable source of randomness, the project supports applications in secure communication, cryptography, and scientific computing.

Deutsch–Jozsa algorithm using linear optics

Photonic computing · Quantum algorithms

This project implements the Deutsch–Jozsa algorithm, which decides in a single query whether a Boolean function is constant or balanced, using linear optical elements such as beam splitters, phase shifters, and Mach-Zehnder interferometers. Polarization is used as an additional degree of freedom, and single-photon and NOON-state inputs are simulated in open quantum software. The results show how constant and balanced oracles are distinguished in a single measurement setting.

Exploring wave–particle behaviors of entangled Bragg-diffracted neutral atoms Published

Cavity QED · Wave-particle duality · Published work

In this work, we extend a photonic wave-particle duality scheme to two entangled, Bragg-diffracted atoms using a cavity-QED setup with two independent atomic Mach-Zehnder-Bragg interferometers. A source cavity entangles the atoms’ momenta, and a final beam splitter in a photon superposition state reveals wave or particle behavior in a single setting. The scheme is experimentally feasible with present-day technology.

Progress figures are the team's own estimates for each track as of 2025 and are updated with every milestone. Completed projects will move to an archive on this page.
